Charlotte Taylor

So im crazy busy packing and sewing at the moment-so much so that blogging out LFW and all the exciting things happening at the moment has taken a massive back seat, however one thing i HAVE to cover for the time being at least is Charlotte Taylors S/S 2012 collection.  I have completely loved her pieces since early this year when i discovered her gorgeous prints, design and use of colour.

Prints, Prints, Prints....

So I've been crazy busy the past few days, trying to get my summer project done, and it seems I can no longer design without designing prints and my trip to Ghana has really inspired me..so here's a bit of a sneak peak of the things I've been designing and trying to put into reality using my current minimal supplies, for my S/S 2012 look :)

Kirsty Ward S/S 2012

Kirsty Ward S/S 2011

I first came across Kirsty Ward on Young British Designers with her S/S 2011 collection. She definitely has her own signature style, and although she isn't taking to the catwalk this September, her S/S 2012 collection is set to continue with her structured boning creating some gorgeous silhouettes and layering.

This year she has been inspired by a mundane mix of officewear, stationary, menswear detailing and suspended layering.” and I really like the sneak peak that has been put up on Vauxhaul Fashion Scout.  It's heavier than the opaque fabrics that Kirsty Ward has used in her previous collections and I think it works really well, especially with the continuation of her unique jewellery designs. Her  collection will be presented on a static stand with a film and I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to hope she releases it onto her website.

Acne collaboration with Daniel Silver

With decades of history surrounding collaborations with artists and fashion designers, the Swedish brand Acne and the sculptor Daniel Silver have given the world of fashion another exciting partnership.  The minimalist Swedish brand is set to inject colour into winter ’11 with tribal inspired contemporary print’s for womenswear and menswear.  I can't wait to see the 60 piece capsule collection, which comes out this October.

So what better time to start writing than the end of one of the most amazing trips of my life, and the imminent fashion weeks ahead!? I've spent the last month in Ghana Volunteering for an NGO fairtrade organisation called Global Mama's, in a tiny rural town, with no hot water, no cups of tea and the most incredible sea view I've ever had.  Despite a month of little sleep, I loved the time I spent in Ghana.  I've been designing and printing during my time in Prampram and adjusting back to Western life is proving harder than I thought! Now though, its time to get on with the projects I've been 'lucky' enough to be given in preparation for starting Fashion Design BA at Bath Spa, in a matter of weeks.
