5 weeks in Brighton #Week5

My Final Week at Knit-1 was contour and 3D week.  Probably the week I was looking forward to the most, it definitely didn't let me down, and it's something I hope to continue working with in my work.  I ended the week by challenging myself to make a dress in a day and a half, using lots of different techniques that I had learnt during the week.(Little Red Dress)
My time at Knit-1 was extremely rewarding and interesting, it was so great to learn so much and now understand how to do all the things I was desperate to learn.  Needless to say I am missing it a lot already and I can't wait to get stuck into my Final year, making use of all the things I have learnt this summer.

5 Weeks in Brighton #Week4

Week 4 at Knit-1 was Intarsia week.  Me and intarsia did not start off being such a great match..but I got there in the end and have developed a small collection of children's jumpers using inspiration from vintage photographs and to be created using the intarsia technique.

5 Weeks in Brighton #Week3

So this last week was garment week at Knit-1 and the first step was following a pattern.  I decided to go with the "Her's" sweater :

I didn't want to go too out there so stuck pretty much to the basic design and focused on getting it made correctly.

5 Weeks in Brighton #Week2

Last week I took on cables. I really enjoyed learning about so many different techniques and loved creating giant cables, draping with them, and then finally creating a dress.
Here are few samples from the week.

Bath spa fashion show 2013-Knitwear

Really happy the company I'm interning for allowed me to head back to Bath to see the show on Tuesday.  It was really great to see my knitwear on the catwalk-all the hard work paid off.
Managed to get a few photos so here they are.

Knitting the month away...Boucle Couture

The last project of my second year has come to an end.  4 weeks have flown by and after being given Boucle as my material for our drape module I decided to develop a knitwear based collection.  This was a tad ambitious considering I am pretty clueless in the knitting department but I've had the best 4 weeks, not realising most days the amount of time I was spending in the studio every day.
I had the help of a lovely friend of mine Ed, who is on the textile course, who taught me how to use the machines and was an amazing support if I had any questions.

So the resulting garments turned out to be very pink..completely unintentionally but I learnt so much and cannot wait to get back to the knitting machine, which won't be long as I will be soon undertaking a  knitwear course at Knit-1 in Brighton.

Here are a few pictures, for the rest of the portfolio work please see kezi.carbonmade.com Photoshoot to come.
